Sometime in year 2002, a long time devotee of Shree Gajanan Maharaj Shri Umesh Churi, who used to earlier celebrate Pragat Din at his home, alongwith Shri Pandurang Naik, , Subhash Naik Dessai and Shri PA (Bhai) Dessai placed Shree’s Photo under a old Banyan tree, which was in the middle of a small plot of housing board at Gogol. Shri Pandurang Naik was the person who thought of the plot for Maharaj
Thereafter , daily Puja by a Bhatji and Thursday Aarti’s started , slowly Ramnavmi and Pragat Din Utsavs were celebrated.
Till 2007, this went on in the open plot with help from neighbours Eng. Ramrao Lotlikar and Mr and Mrs Manoj Pai who gave water and electricity etc . Shree Prakash Naik and his mother staying nearby took care of the plot almost every day Dr. Anil Kumane from Pune who was working in Goa in those years, alongwith his wife used to attend the Thursday Aartis and on other days regularly till the time they were in Goa
In the mean time in 2003, Shree Gajanan Maharaj Trust , a registered public charitable Trust was formed by Shri Umesh Churi alongwith four other Trustees and the Trust applied to the Housing Board and Govt of Goa for allotment of the plot to the Trust.
The Trustees followed up with the Govt and housing board for 4 years for allotment of the plot to the Trust Shri Bhai Naik businessman of Margao tried to help the Trustees to get the plot allotted.
Finally the plot was allotted to the Trust in April, 2007 thanks to Mr. Vijay Sardessai, who was introduced to the Trustees by local Councillor Shri Sadanand Naik.
Both Mr. Vijay Sardesai and Mr. Sadanand Naik have been very helpful since then
In 2008 Shri Vinayak Mahajan from Ponda a devotee of Gajanan Maharaj started Acupressure Guidance Centre on the open plot Many people used to visit the Trust plot to get his treatment
Mr. Mahajan conducted the Acupressure Guidance Centre at the open plot and afterwards in the Math premises till end of 2012 twice a week, which helped the Trust very much
As a reward to his hard work, devotion and service to people, Gajanan Maharaj has blessed him with a house few meters away from the Math, where he conducts the Acupressure centre now
Once the plot was allotted, the Bhumi Pujan and Foundation Stone Laying Ceremonies were conducted in August 2009 under guidance of Shri Gune Guruji and the Foundation Stone was laid at the Holy Hands of Shri Shivdutta Baba of Datta Maharaj Temple ,Kanka , Mapusa , Goa
The Trustees started working on the construction of Math and Shri Naren Kuwadekar Architect from Mumbai planned the concept and drew the plans of Math , which were finalised by Architect Rabindra Kakodkar of Goa ,the RCC consultant Mr. Abhay Kunkolienkar took care of the structural drawings
A Construction Committee was formed of Shri Adesh Karwarkar , Aniruddha Brahme, Vaibhav Joshi, Ravi Hulli, Vijay Prabhu Alvenkar , Harish Bhansali, Vinayak Mahajan, Pandurang Naik and Harshad Patel and all the Trustees
Thereafter the Construction of the Math was started in 2009 and completed in 10 months largely due to a rare gesture of a Builder Mr. Inesio Coutinho of Reliance Builders , Margao who agreed to construct the Math at Cost with his funds to be paid back by the Trust as when financial position may permit . He also gave a significant donation for flooring
On the following day of Pragat din in 2009 , Shri Aniruddha Brahme , an engineer from Dhule in Maharashtra who was working in Goa that time , came to the Site , (probably was sent by Maharaj himself to take care of construction) and thereafter the work started in full swing with help of Engineer Ravi Hulli and Eng Vaibhav Joshi . Bhaiji Patel of Dhule also offered his seva for few months
Aniruddha Brahme not only helped in construction but made some significant changes in plans and the entire interior design , placement of Deities, design of woodwork, marblework was planned by him with Inputs from Vaibhav Joshi , Ravi Hulli and Umesh Churi and Arvind Kuwadekar from Mumbai
The Marble idols were sourced from Jaipur with guidance of Aniruddha and those were brought to Goa by road by Vinayak Mahajan and Umesh Churi A businessman from Margao Mr. Purohit offered his Vehicle and Shri Adesh Karwarkar who has been a pillar of strength from the day 1 , took care of all the arrangements
Eng. Arvind Kuwadekar also came up with the idea of having 2 columns in the front which look like now part of the banyan tree
Once the construction was started funds started trickling in and with some significant donations from some Bhaktas the Math was completed and the Pratishtapana was performed by Shri Narsinv Bhatji and Balu Bhat from Honavr The KalashPratishatpana was performed at the holy hands of Shri Shivdutta Baba of Datta Maharaj Temple ,Kanka , Mapusa , Goa in June 2010 Shri Pundlik Kakode and Shri Alvenkar took care of the arrangements of the 5 days Sohala

Before 2002
Shree Gajanan Maharaj Palkhi from Malevad Patit Pavan Mandir of Maharaj, near Sawantwadi visits various towns in Goa every year in January every year since 1989 and Shri Vasudeo Natu (Natukaka ) who used to himself accompany the Palkhi every year till his passing away in 2011 Many people in Goa came to know about Shree Gajanan Maharaj mainly because of Natukaka
